Why are Christmas Tree Farms Important?

Posted by Papa Noel on Sep 2nd 2025

As a Christmas tree farm, Papa Noel is a cultivated forest that provides so much beyond just a beautiful tree for your living room during Christmas. Fraser firs make up 94% of Christmas trees grown in North Carolina, and North Carolina provides 20% of the Christmas trees grown in the United States. That's a lot of trees! Every single acre of a Christmas tree farm produces the oxygen that 18 people need to breathe in one year. Just Papa Noel's Christmas trees produce enough oxygen for 10,800 people!

Christmas tree farms in the U.S. help reduce our carbon footprint by absorbing 4,200 pounds of carbon dioxide every single day, which is like taking 300,000 cars off the road. Without Christmas trees, our environment would be considerably worse off.

Besides the environmental benefits that Christmas tree farms provide, small family-owned tree farms like Papa Noel also create a sense of community. Small farms bring people together to celebrate the holidays and interact with their customers in more personalized ways (like this newsletter!). We take this seriously at Papa Noel: we love bringing everyone in the Austin and San Antonio area together to share the Christmas spirit! Thank you for supporting Papa Noel and helping our environment and community thrive!
